Scope of Practice
Hip Conditions
Mr Gormack is fellowship-trained in the management of a wide range of adult and adolescent hip conditions. He performs a large number of primary total hip replacements each year utilising the latest minimally invasive surgical techniques. He has a particular interest in complex hip reconstruction and revision surgery. Mr Gormack also treats a wide range of young adult hip conditions including dysplasia, avascular necrosis, labral tears/femoro-acetabular impingement, Perthes disease and SUFE. He performs both arthroscopic and open hip preservation surgery.
Knee Conditions
Mr Gormack is an experienced knee surgeon, and completes over 100 computer-navigated primary total knee replacement procedures each year. He also performs a range of other knee reconstruction procedures including partial knee replacement, patellofemoral replacement, high tibial osteotomy and revision knee replacement. Additionally, Mr Gormack treats a wide range of young adult knee conditions. He has specialist training in the latest arthroscopic knee surgery techniques such as ACL reconstruction, other knee ligament reconstruction, meniscal repair surgery and patella stabilisation.
Trauma and Other
Mr Gormack has a particular interest in the management of complex orthopaedic trauma at Auckland’s busy Middlemore Hospital. These injuries often require ongoing orthopaedic management, particularly in the case of non-union or post-traumatic arthritis.
