Knee Conditions

Meniscal Tears

A mensical tear is a condition in which the cartilage shock-absorbers inside the knee are damaged or torn. This can happen after an accident, or as a result of wear and tear.

ACL injuries

Anterior cruicate ligament (ACL) injury is when there is a tear in one of the main ligaments which stabilise the knee. This is often sustained during a sporting injury.

Knee Arthritis

Arthritis is the loss of the normal smooth cartilage lining the knee joint, causing pain and loss of daily function. Osteoarthritis due to wear and tear is the most common type of knee arthritis. Once severe, knee arthritis can be successfully treated with a total knee replacement.

PAINFUL / WORN PREVIOUS KNee REPLACEMENT

Knee replacement implants can wear out or become loose with time. This is normally noticed as pain in a previously well functioning knee. Often surgery to redo or ‘revise’ the damaged knee replacement is required before further damage occurs.

Patella instability

Patella instability is a condition in which the kneecap subluxes or dislocates from the groove that it normally runs in at the front of the knee. This often happens after a sporting injury, or a twisting injury to the knee.
